Digit the gorilla has lived with a French couple for 18 years

When Pierre and Eliane Thivillon adopted Digit the gorilla, she weighed just four pounds and six ounces.
But you would struggle to get her on to the scales now, with the huge primate eclipsing her two owners.
Despite her size, Digit is still a softie and remarkably has lived with the couple nearly all of her life.

Fitness fanatic: 56 Y.O man splashes £18,600 A YEAR on his appearance to...

A 56-year-old man who splashes nearly £20,000 a year on his appearance says he does so to force his younger wife to keep up.

Donavon Nelson, from London, has forked out thousands on surgical treatments and has three personal trainers to hone his shape - admitting his intense grooming regime forces long-suffering wife Anna, 35, to stay in shape too.

The father-of-two claims that as well as enjoying his youthful looks his regime 'also creates pressure for her [Anna] to keep fit, fitness is very important to me.

'You don't want to marry one wife and find you get one three years down the line when they're twice the size. The whole idea is to try and keep them the same way that turned you on when you first met,' he admitted.

Donavon, who has had pectoral implants and several rounds of liposuction, spends three hours a day on his appearance including no less than 20 minutes brushing his teeth each morning.

He also spends £50 a month on flights to return to London from Sweden, where his business is based, to visit his favourite hairdresser where his cuts set him back £175 each month.

He said: 'With my wife being 21 years younger than me, I want to maintain my body. At least I know if she ever leaves me I can still go on the market, I won't be left on the shelf.'

London-born Donovan claims he has to carry ID around with him because he's been turned away from nightclubs and refused alcohol for looking too young.

He said: 'I was on holiday in Thailand a few years ago and I was held up by border control for three hours.

'They had to wait for the UK office to open so they could check if my passport had been stolen because they couldn't believe my age.

'I also went to Tramps in London last year and they thought I was trying to get in on my father's membership and asked me if I had a second ID. It's embarrassing when I get turned away when I want to go out or buy alcohol. I'm used to it now.'

Donavon's wife Anna said his strict regime gives her a 'kick up the bum' to stay on top of her own fitness.

While the 35-year-old journalist refuses to get her own personal trainer, she still works out three times a week.

She said: 'We both try to stay fit and healthy, and of course Donavon's extensive regime gives me a kick up the bum. I do pig out occasionally though.

'Sometimes I'll have no motivation to go to the gym and he'll be out training. I just think, "I'm getting fatter while he's getting fitter". It's like I'm the older one and he's the younger one."

But Anna says that while she struggles to motivate herself her husband does inspire her.

She added: "I think everybody should have someone who motivates them to go to the gym. At the time I might think, "Oh God he's on at me again", but once I've gone to the gym I feel fantastic. If I'd never met Donavon I don't think I'd be as motivated.

'Fitness is such an important part of his life and we've been together so long that it's become a part of me too.You want to do the same things, and his drive rubs off on me.'

Speaking about the 21-year age gap Anna said: 'He has so much charisma and everybody loves him. We meet in the middle - he tries to stay young and I have made older friends. I have a lovely husband, and he looks fantastic.'

Donavon says he loves being the 'trendiest dad on the playground' to daughter Aspen, 10, and son Damien, 13, and his efforts ensure he gets plenty of attention.

The 21st-century caveman: Argentine man who lived 40 years in a cave

Pedro Luca has lived in a cave in northern Argentina for 40 years.

The 79-year-old survives without running water or electricity in his cavern high in a mountain in northern Tucuman province.
When he gets hungry he picks up his rifle and goes hunting or heads on a three-hour trek down the mountain to the nearest settlement of San Pedro de Colalao. A creek is his main source of water.
'It's the purest, richest water there is,' he says.

His cave mates? Eleven roosters and two goats that roam the mountainside during the day and return at night looking for shelter from pumas and other predators. The crows of the roosters wake him up at around 3 a.m. every morning and he begins the day by starting a fire.
'Fire is magical,' he says, as the smoke fills his cave.

Luca has become a legend in San Pedro de Colalao, and town dwellers often give him food and supplies. He buys candles, yeast and corn with a government old-age pension, worth about $100-$200, that he collects at the town's post office.

His only technological gadget is a small, battery-powered radio, but he has a hard time tuning into stations because the signal is weak up the mountain.

He walks three hours every day, climbing the steep mountainside to reach his cave. Luca's skin is weather-beaten and he has few teeth left, but he seems much younger than a man who is almost 80.

Luca says he always wanted to live in isolation in the wild, even as a boy. He was raised by his grandfather in San Pedro de Colalao, which he first left at age 14 to travel northern Argentina and earn a living transporting coal to Bolivia.

He returned to the area and the cave. Word of his solitary lifestyle spread and he now gets occasional visits from tourists and schoolchildren.

'I never asked myself why I chose to live here,' he says. 'There was another cave nearby but I liked this one better. Sometimes, I think that I would have liked to travel the world, see Europe. But there's a lot of sea in the middle of it all and you have to have the time to cross that sea.'

Confused fishermen spot alien-like ball floating in the middle of the ocean

Confused fishermen spot alien-like ball floating in the middle of the ocean

Stunned fishermen spotted a gigantic alien-like ball floating off the coast of Western Australia before it was devoured by hungry sharks.

Mark Watkins and his father were fishing 25 nautical miles from Bunbury, south of Perth, on Wednesday when they came across the eerie sighting.

At first Mr Watkins, 36, thought it might be a boat, or even a stranded hot air balloon,The West Australian reported.

Upon closer inspection the pair discovered it was an inflated whale carcass.

'It's stomach was full of gas so it was all bloated up,' Mr Watkins told the publication.

'When we got closer we realised it had to be a dead whale because of the smell.'

Images taken by Mr Watkins show the dead whale at bursting point.

The whale's skin is so stretched it appears to be pink.

The seasoned fishermen said they had never seen anything like it.

Upon telling their friends the fishermen were asked if there were sharks feeding on the floating carcass.

Mr Watkins said there was a four-metre white pointer shark around his boat that day.
As the pair headed into shore they noticed chunks had been bitten out of the whale and it was no longer inflated.

Adorable stray dog can't stop cuddling his little friend after the pair were rescued from the streets
You can call it puppy love, but these adorable pals just can't keep their paws off each other.

A pair of inseparable stray puppies have been melting hearts on social media after they were adopted by Buddhist nuns in China.

The larger pup can be seen holding his companion in his paws and keeping watch against a shrine inside the temple.

Another snap shows the dog striking a Zen pose alongside a Buddhist statue, apparently learning meditation from the best.

The doggy duo were taken in by the temple and given a new lease on life after being cast aside on the streets somewhere in China.

The images have set social media site Weibo alight with hundreds of commenters from people gushing over the canine companions.

'The dogs are in the temple now, so they must sit in mediation the same way the nuns do,' one commenter wrote.

Other users condemned the former owners who left the puppies for dead.

'How can people be so cruel? They shouldn't have bought the dogs in the first place if they weren't able to take good care of them!'

Boy, 4, looks like an old man and can't go to school 'because other children are scared of him'

A four-year-old boy resembles an 80-year-old pensioner due to an incredibly rare condition .

Bayezid Hossain, from outside Magura, southern Bangladesh, suffers a swollen face, hollow eyes, sagging skin, aching joints, difficulties passing urine and already has weak and broken teeth .

People in the community stay away from him and children are afraid to play with him despite him having above average intelligence ,

Bayezid is believed to suffer from progeria, which ages the body at eight times the normal rate .

Bayezid also has a form of cutis laxa, a rare connective tissue disorder in which the skin hangs loosely in folds,

His 18-year-old mother, Tripti Khatun, says she is amazed at how clever her son is, but it breaks her heart that his appearance is so unusual .

She said: ‘Bayezid only learned to walk aged three but he had a full set of teeth at three months old .

'His physical growth is completely abnormal but mentally, he has wonderful conversation, very aware and is very intuitive for his age .

He does not look like other children , He looks like an old man,  As a first time mother I can’t bear the pain of seeing my child like this,

When Bayezid was born at a government maternity hospital, in 2012, Tripti and her husband Lovelu Hossain, 22, were devastated as doctors had no idea how to treat him .

Tripti said: ‘I was terrified to see him when he was born ,He was just flesh and bones , He looked like an alien and it was heartbreaking for me .

'Doctors had no idea what to do, they said they had never seen such a baby. They warned us that there was nothing they could do.’

After they returned home the news of their abnormal child quickly spread around the village and neighbours lined up outside the family's home to see him.

But Tripti and her husband said they received no support from the local community.

People feared being close to Bayezid and often gossiped about the couple’s capabilities as parents, as Tripti and Lovelu are first cousins .

In rural parts of Bangladesh and southern Asia Muslim community  it is normal practice for cousins to marry, and the pair tied the knot at 13 years old .

As Bayezid grew older both his personality and body developed much faster than other children in his village.

Tripti added: ‘He’s very stubborn and knows what he wants, and he gets very impatient. But he’s playful, his mind is very sharp, and he’s full of conversation.’

As time has passed his neighbours have slowly gotten used to his presence and have now fondly tagged him the ‘old man’.

Bayezid doesn’t go to school but he loves to play with his ball, drawing on paper, and even breaking his toys so he can fix them back up again.

Lovelu said ‘We’ve been to hospitals, shrines, fakirs, shamans— whoever suggested whatever .

'Yet his situation remains the same and he’s probably getting even worse day by day,  My son isn’t a normal baby and it’s tragic for any parent to know that his child will not survive for long .

But I am proud of him. He is extremely intelligent compared to other children of his age. His relationship with his cousins is very friendly and funny .

'He understands his condition but he doesn’t like to talk about it. He just cries when he feels awkward .
Debashis Bishwas, a consultant from Magura Central Hospital, in Magura, met with Bayezid last month and told his parents he believes he is suffering from progeria and cutis laxa .

He said he fears he may only live for 15 years.
Lovelu understands there may not be a cure for his son’s conditions

'Like every other parent, we want our baby to live a long and healthy life but we feel only a miracle will save us now .

Heartbreaking Moment Schoolgirl dies at Zoo after elephant hurls a ROCK ...

This is the heartbreaking moment a schoolgirl lies dying at a zoo after being struck on the head in a freak accident by a rock hurled at her by an elephant.

The seven-year-old was having a picture outside its enclosure with her family when the tragedy happened at the zoo in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

The female elephant, named Assia, picked up the large stone in its trunk and threw it into the air, hitting her on the back of the head.

The youngster was knocked unconscious and died in a nearby hospital after failing to overcome her injuries.

Footage taken by a bystander on a mobile phone and posted on social media showed the girl lying on the ground being tended to by staff as her anguished family gathered round her.

Schoolgirl lies dying after elephant hurls rock at her head

Local reports said the girl's dad had lifted her up on his shoulders outside the elephant enclosure so her mum could take a snap of the two of them with their back to the animals when she was struck.

A zoo spokesman offered his condolences to the girl's family but said there had been no security breaches and she had not crossed into a protective area outside the enclosure.

He insisted: 'Accidents of this type are rare, unforeseeable and unusual.

Horrifying moment a woman is dragged off by a TIGER after getting out of her car at a safari park

A woman was eaten alive and another seriously injured after they jumped out of a car in a tiger enclosure at a Chinese safari park .

Dramatic video footage captures the middle-aged woman flouting the warnings by getting out of the car, and she was killed instantly after she followed the younger woman out of the car at the Badaling Wildlife World, near the Great Wall of China .

Both had ignored repeated warnings to stay inside the vehicle, according to local media .

Sohu reported that the family - one older woman, a younger woman, a child and a man - were in the park, just over an hour north-west of Beijing, on Saturday .

The younger woman and the man are understood to have had an argument, at which point she stormed out of the car, reports Chinese media .

The older woman then followed her out - and was instantly attacked by the Siberian tiger .

The man is also understood to have tried to rescue his family members, while the child stayed in the car .

The 6,000 acre park, which allows people to either drive themselves or join a tour, tells people not to leave their vehicles at any point .

The family were eventually rescued by Badaling's staff, but there was nothing that could be done for the older woman .

The younger woman was seriously injured, an official confirmed .

This is not the first time the tigers have attacked someone in the park: two years ago, a male employee was killed by one of the tigers .

US man suffers 'vicious' crocodile attack at Costa Rica beach , loses hi...

An American surfer who had part of his right leg amputated after he was attacked by a large crocodile in Costa Rica was able to escape because his friend fought the reptile off with his hands.
Local media named the man as 59-year-old John Becker, and said he was attacked while crossing the river between Playa Grande and Tamarindo in Costa Rica about 7am on Friday.

Becker escaped the crocodile and make his way to shore, where he collapsed due to the large amount of blood he had lost, according to the Tico Times

In addition to the those suffered to his right leg that caused the amputation, he also had minor injuries to his face.
It reportedly took about 40 minutes for an ambulance to reach Becker and transfer him to hospital.

Tamarindo is a town in the country's north-west and is often visited by surfers and eco-tourists.
Dramatics photographs taken show the moment Becker dragged himself out of the water, before collapsing flat on his back on the sand.

People quickly rush over to him and offer their assistance, with one person putting Becker's surfboard behind his head to use as a pillow.
About a dozen more surfers and beachgoers then gather by his side to offer assistance, before one man appeared to tie a rope around the 59-year-old's right leg - slightly above his knee - potentially to stop further blood loss.
Two lifeguards and a police officer were also seen sprinting towards the American.
Seven men are then pictured carrying Becker on a stretcher off the beach and to an ambulance that was parked nearby.
Pat McNulty, who works as a consultant and is a certified trained lifeguard in the area, said the man was crossing a river with the friend when the crocodile struck.
'It was a vicious attack, and he was bitten several times in the leg as well as the head,' McNulty said.
'They were able to get him free, swim him to safety and then trained lifeguards responded ... and we administered first aid and called an ambulance.'
McNulty said he accompanied the victim, who remained lucid after the attack, to Liberia, the provincial capital, where he underwent surgery.
'His friend saved his life ... and then we the lifeguards helped keep him alive,' McNulty said.
'It was a very traumatic scene, and all individuals attending him did a tremendous job.'
McNulty said he was familiar with the man before the attack because Tamarindo is a small town where everyone knows everyone else.
He declined to identify him publicly by name but described him as a surfer from Colorado who maintains a residence in the village. Family members were traveling to be with him.
McNulty said a few months ago there was a 'minor incident' in which a smaller croc bit a person.
'We live in a country where there's large crocodiles, and people take for granted that when you go into a river that you're safe,' the lifeguard said. 'But the fact of the matter is that you need to be aware of your environment. ... We're in their world.'

Meet the couple who share their home with a 7-foot tall tame BEAR

Meet the couple who share their home with a 7-foot tall tame BEAR

The idea of sitting down for dinner with a 300lb bear is enough to put most people off their food.

But for one family from Russia this wild idea is actually a way of life that extends far beyond sharing the odd meal at the dinner table.

On the surface Svetlana and Yuriy Panteleenko appear like any other ordinary couple, but for their 23-year-old bear named Stepan.

Standing at more than seven foot, the large mammal is so domesticated the family often sit down together in the evenings to watch television.

And the bear has even been known to help out around the house - or at least in the garden - by watering the plants.

While Stepan gets through more than a bowl of porridge a day his favourite dish is a can of condensed milk thanks to a sweet tooth.

He also stocks up on a hefty 25kg of fish, vegetables and eggs - meaning dinner time at the Panteleenko's is never a breeze.

But fortunately for Stepan, he's also a football fanatic so works off the gut-busting amount of food his parents serve him every day.

Svetlana and Yuriy adopted Stepan when he was aged just three months.

The couple say that because they have known the bear so long his temperament is extremely gentle and he can often be found cuddling up to them on the sofa.

Svetlana said: 'Stepan likes nothing more than to cuddle up with us on the sofa at night while we're watching television.

'When we adopted him, he was only three-months-old and had been found by hunters in the forest having lost his mother. He was in a very bad condition.

'He absolutely loves people and is a really sociable bear - despite what people might think, he is not aggressive at all. We have never been bitten by Stepan.

'He's got so many talents and loves a picnic. It's a wonder he doesn't eat us out of house and home.'

Cincinnati Zoo gorilla Harambe killed to protect boy who fell into enclosure

Cincinnati Zoo gorilla Harambe killed to protect boy who fell into enclosure

A zoo shot and killed a 17-year-old gorilla that grabbed and dragged a four-year-old boy who fell into the its enclosure on Saturday afternoon.
Authorities said the boy, who fell 10 to 12 feet, is expected to recover after being picked up out of the moat and dragged by the 400-pound male, lowland gorilla named Harambe.
The boy was in the moat for about 10 minutes and was in between the gorilla's legs when the gorilla was shot, according to WLWT.
While zoo officials are still investigating, they believe the boy crawled through a railing barrier, and then fell into the moat.

Zoo officials said at the time boy fell in the moat, three gorillas were in the enclosure but the two female gorillas were called out immediately.
However, a third gorilla, Harambe, remained in the yard with the child.
Video footage emerged on Saturday revealing some of the chilling moments of the time the boy was inside the moat, as a panicked crowd looking on can be heard screaming as the ordeal unfolded.
During the chaotic scenes, people can be heard shouting 'No, no!' and for someone to call 911.
At one point a woman appearing to be the child's mother yells down, 'mommy's right here,' 'mommy loves you,' and then says 'Isaiah be calm,' as the boy can be heard crying.
The graphic portions of the ordeal which apparently showed the gorilla dragging the boy through the water, were removed from the footage, according to by WLWT.
The child was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center with serious injuries following the incident, which was reported around 4pm.
The boy was alert when he was taken to hospital, according to officials.

Hospital officials said they could not release any information on the child, whose name has not been released.
Director Thane Maynard said the zoo's dangerous animal response team, which practices for such incidents, decided the boy was in 'a life-threatening situation' and that they needed to put down the gorilla.
'They made a tough choice and they made the right choice because they saved that little boy's life,' Maynard said.
'It could have been very bad.'
Maynard said the gorilla did not appear to be attacking the child, but he said it was 'an extremely strong' animal in an agitated situation.
The Cincinnati fire department incident report stated that the gorilla was 'violently dragging and throwing the child,' according to WLWT.
Maynard explained that tranquilizing the gorilla would not have knocked it out immediately, leaving the boy in danger.

He also noted it was the first time that the team had killed a zoo animal in such an emergency situation, and he called it 'a very sad day' at the zoo.
Harambe came to Cincinnati in 2015 from the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas. According to the zoo's website, it houses 11 gorillas.
The area around the gorilla exhibit was closed off on Saturday afternoon as zoo visitors reported hearing screaming.
The zoo is to be open as usual on Sunday but Gorilla World will be closed until further notice.
In March, two curious polar bears at the zoo wandered into a behind-the-scenes service hallway through an open den door, but never left a secondary containment area.
The zoo said the 17-year-old female Berit and the 26-year-old male Little One, entered an 'inappropriate' area but remained contained and were never loose or a threat to the public.
During that incident, zoo officials said staff followed protocols and safely returned the bears to their main holding area within two hours.

White family forced to give up their daughter by court because she is 1.5% Native American

Social workers seized a hysterical six-year-old girl from the home of her white foster family on Monday because she is part Native American.
The child, Lexi, sobbed, clinging to her foster father Rusty Page as he reluctantly fought through a crowd to hand the child over to the Department of Children and Families in Santa Clarita.
In a disturbing video from KTLA, Lexi screamed, begging Rusty, 'don't let them take me away', as she was removed from her family.
As Lexi was placed in the back of a black car with government workers, her foster mother Summer Page burst from the home screaming 'I love you, Lexi'.

Lexi's foster siblings screamed 'no' over and over, crying hysterically as their sister was taken.
Droves of protesters and reporters stood by helplessly as the family's screams continued to echo out into the street.
The horrifying scene came days after Rusty and his wife Summer were denied an emergency stay to keep the part-Native American child.
Summer and Rusty raised Lexi for the last five years and spent the last two-and-a-half trying to adopt her with no success.

Brussels attacks: At least 34 dead , Isis claims airport and metro attacks

Cowering under desks and running for their lives, this is the terrifying moment passengers were caught up in an ISIS suicide bomb attack at Brussels Airport today in a series of blasts that have killed at least 34 people and injured 170 across the city.

Witnesses described apocalyptic scenes with blood and 'dismembered bodies everywhere' after two blasts rocked the terminal at around 8am (7am GMT), killing at least 14 people and injuring dozens of others.
Then 79 minutes later at 9.19am, at least 20 people were killed and scores injured, some critically, when a blast hit a Metro station just 400 metres from the EU headquarters in the city centre.

    .....................................................................................
    ......................................................................................
At the airport, there were reports of a firefight between police and the attackers who shouted in Arabic moments before detonating their bombs, one of which was understood to contain nails.
An unexploded suicide vest was later found in the rubble and a Kalashnikov rifle beside the body of a dead terrorist. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The blasts, which detonated near a Starbucks and several check-in desks, sent shockwaves through the terminal building, shattering windows and knocking roof tiles off the ceiling as terrified passengers ran for their lives.
The explosions, coming just four months after the Paris attacks, have left countries around the world reeling, with security services placed on high alert, flights cancelled, Eurostar services suspended and France's border with Belgium shut down

The Sexiest Doctor Alive is officially off the market - but the lucky woman is more than deserving.
Dr Mikhail Varshavski has confirmed that he is has begun dating the most beautiful woman in the world: Miss Universe 2015.
The Russian-born doctor told Wonderwall: 'I am dating Pia. It's a fairly new relationship but I'm really excited to see where it can go!'
Rumors about the relationship had begun flying last month that Varshavski - Named the 'Sexiest Doctor Alive' in 2015 by People Magazine - was dating Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, when he posted an Instagram picture of the pair together.

The caption read: 'She says she wanted to be a doctor until she realized she's deathly afraid of the sight of blood, so she decided to win #MissUniverse instead #touché #welldone #stoneheartday @piawurtzbach'
Only a week ago, Wurtzbach had claimed that Miss Universe remained her top priority during a live Facebook chat: 'No. There's no specific someone in my life. This is the specific someone. This is the priority'
But Wurtzbach later showed off a photo with the dashing doctor on her Twitter account, after a boxing match with him, which she captioned: 'Zombies after boxing @RealDoctorMike'.

While the relationship is only in its early stages, one can only imagine what their children would look like.

Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe in December last year in one of the most awkward live television moments in history.
The show's host Steve Harvey mistakenly read the wrong name and gave Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez the crown when the Filipino beauty was the actual winner.
Varshavski, meanwhile went viral for his 'doctor.mike' Instagram account that is filled with photos of himself and his Husky named Roxy.
The second-year medical resident now has 1.6 million followers and recently signed with Abrams Artists Agency.
He is a self-described 'avid explorer of life', according to his page.
The doctor works at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J., where he has been a medical resident for two years.

After he gained the flattering title from People last year, he commented: 'Now I can't go anywhere without some recognition.
'Airports, restaurants, lounges, people approach me everywhere either asking for a selfie or to just ask a question or two. I've never had that before.
'Normally I'm a shy guy who keeps to himself and enjoys to people watch, but now that's all changed.'
In January this year, Varshavski offered one lucky woman a romantic night out in New York City but they had to first donate to the Limitless Tomorrow Foundation, which offers financial assistance to students.
The proposal read: 'You'll fly to New York City and stay at a 4-star hotel and you and Mike will dine at a Michelin Star restaurant.'
But now he is officially taken, it looks like only Wurtzbach will be wining and dining with him.

golden tie, Breivik raised his right arm in a flat-handed Nazi-
style salute on arrival at the court, slightly different from the
outstretched arm and clenched fist he used in 2012.
His lawyer said Breivik considers himself a national
socialist, or Nazi, and that the gesture was "the worst thing
you can do in a courtroom". Breivik later suggested it was
an old Norse gesture, he said.
Judge Helen Andenaes Sekulic was not pleased either way.
She told Breivik not to repeat the salute when court
    proceedings resume on Wednesday.
Appearing in public for the first time since he was sentenced
in 2012, Breivik is claiming inhuman treatment by Norway,
where he is serving 21 years for killing eight people with a
bomb in Oslo and gunning down 69 others on an island
    nearby, many of them teenagers.
He has had just one visitor with whom he had physical
contact - his mother, who was allowed into prison and gave
him a hug shortly before she died of cancer in 2013.
Breivik's lawyer, Oeystein Storrvik, accused Norway of
violating a ban on "inhuman and degrading treatment" under
the European Convention on Human Rights by keeping the
37-year-old isolated from other inmates in a special three-
    room cell.
"There is no tradition in Norway for this type of isolation," he
told the special court that will meet until Friday in a
gymnasium at Skien jail about 100 km (60 miles) south of
    Oslo.
Norway rejects the charges of inhuman treatment.

"Breivik is a very dangerous man," said Marius Emberland,
the lawyer representing the state, defending Breivik's
    conditions.
He said Breivik had been given some opportunities for
interaction with others, including meeting volunteers to play
chess, but that he had declined.
Another prisoner tried to attack Breivik last year, getting to
within earshot. When stopped by guards, the man shouted:
"You are a killer, a child killer ... And I love my country,"
    Emberland said.
Storrvik told Reuters he had advised Breivik against making
the salute. "He (Breivik) says he is a national socialist," he
    said.
    "FULL-BLOODED NAZI"
Oeystein Soerensen, a professor of history at Oslo
University, said Breivik seemed to want to signal to like-
minded fanatics "that he is now a full-blooded Nazi. He
    wasn't that in 2011."
In 2011, for instance, a rambling manifesto written by
Breivik expressed sympathy for Israel, seeing it as an ally in
his hostility to Muslims. And Breivik's previous clenched fist
was "a sort of home-made fascist salute," he said.
Opinions are divided among the survivors and relatives of
victims who have spoken out publicly. Some have said the
lawsuit is a joke and do not want to be reminded of July 22,
2011, while one survivor said Breivik's human rights should
    be respected.
"Breivik made us inhuman as victims of his actions and
we're in danger of falling into the same trap as him if we
take away his human rights," survivor Bjoern Ihler told
Reuters in Oslo, at a court where the case was televised.
Breivik killed eight people with a bomb in Oslo and gunned
down 69 others on an island nearby, many of them
teenagers. He is serving Norway's maximum sentence of
21 years, which can be extended.
Breivik will have a chance to speak on Wednesday. The
single judge - there is no jury - will issue a ruling in coming
weeks. Storrvik says he may eventually appeal to the
European Court of Human Rights if Breivik loses.
Norway considered it too dangerous to hear the case in
Oslo. The makeshift courtroom has walls lined with timber
bars and a climbing frame as well as two basketball hoops.

These amazing pictures show the remarkable rescue effort
to save a leopard which fell down a well in India while
    looking for prey.
The big cat was pictured with its glowing eyes peering up at
the people on the top of the well, who called rescue workers
from the Guwahati Zoo to help save the struggling animal.
The distressed leopard was drenched, with just its head
sticking out of the muddy water littered with broken wood
floating on the surface, as it waited from the rescuers to
    arrive.

It can be seen biting and tugging on the rope which rescuers
throw down in order to eventually winch the animal up to
    the top.
Zoo workers are then forced to tranquilize the big cat so
they can safely get down to it and attach the roped to pull it
    up.
Crowds of people gather to watch the audacious effort, with
many lending a hand to pull buckets of water up from the
well so that the leopard doesn't drown while unconscious.
One man carefully climbs down the damp walls of the well
and bravely ties the ropes around the animals neck and
torso so that the army of helpers at the top can drag it to
    safety.
They finally get the unconscious cat to the top of the well,
and it can be seen laying lifeless and covered in mud on the
    floor.
But the zoo workers then put the animal into a small metal
cage and carry it to a truck using huge wooden sticks
    attached to it as handles.
It was then taken to the Guwahati Zoo for treatment, where
vets will assess its condition and hopefully nurse it back to
    health.

    ...................................................................................
A monstrous-looking sea creature that experts are unable to
identify has washed up on a tourist beach in Mexico.
The strange 4-meter (13-foot-long) beast was found by
beach-goers on Bonfil Beach, in the city of Acapulco, in the
    south-west Mexican state of Guerrero.
Stunned spectators gathered around and took photos, which
they shared on social media, speculating about the possible
    species of the creature.

The floating body was brought to the shore by strong
currents that have been affecting that particular part of the
    Mexican coast.
Although the coordinator of the Civil Guard and Fire Brigade,
Rosa Camacho, believes the animal had not been dead for a
long time, it still seemed to have rapidly started to decay.
'We have no idea what type of animal this is, but I do know
that it does not smell bad or have a fetid aroma,' Camacho
    stated.

'It is four meters long and was found on Bonfil Beach.'
The many photos of the strange creature have been seen
and shared online thousands of times and have provoked a
debate about what kind of animal it is.
Some have suggested that the creature might be a type of
giant squid and others a whale.

Amazing! Dindim the Penguin swims 5,000 MILES every year to visit Brazil...

This incredible video shows the touching relationship
between a penguin and the Brazilian man who rescued him
    from certain death.
Retired bricklayer and part time fisherman Joao Pereira de
Souza, 71, from an island village just outside Rio de Janeiro
in Brazil, discovered the tiny penguin languishing on rocks
    in 2011.
The helpless creature was starving and covered in oil but Mr
de Souza took him in and nursed him back to health, naming
the South American Magellanic penguin Dindim.

    ........................................................................................
It took him a week just to clean the sticky black residue
    from the bird's feathers.
When Dindim was well again Mr de Souza released him back
into the sea, never expecting to see his new friend again.

He was astonished when, just a few months later, the
penguin returned to the island where he recognised Mr de
Souza and returned home with him.
Now, Dindim spends eight months of the year with Mr de
Souza and spends the rest of his time breeding off the coast
    of Argentina and Chile.

The flightless bird is believed to swim around 5,000 miles
everytime he returns to Mr de Souza.
'I love the penguin like it's my own child and I believe the
penguin loves me,' Mr Pereira de Souza told Globo TV.
'No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they
do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me
to feed him sardines and to pick him up.'
Mr Pereira de Souza said he fed Dindim a daily diet of fish
to improve his strength then took him back to the sea to let
    him go.

'But he wouldn't leave, he stayed with me for 11 months
and then just after he changed his coat with new feathers he
disappeared,' recalled the retired builder. 'Everyone said he
wouldn't return but he has been coming back to visit me for
    the past four years.
'He arrives in June and leaves to go home in February and
every year he becomes more affectionate as he appears
    even happier to see me.'
Biologist Joao Paulo Krajewski, who interviewed Mr Pereira
de Souza for Globo TV, said: 'I have never seen anything
like this before. I think the penguin believes Joao is part of
his family and probably a penguin as well.
'When he sees him he wags his tail like a dog and honks
    with delight.'
Another expert said it appears as though Dindim recognises
Mr de Souza as he would another penguin, and acts
    accordingly.

Indian dwarves become one of the world's smallest couples after wedding ceremony

At just over two feet tall, Pramod Kumar's search for the

perfect soulmate was one he feared would never be

    completed.

But after 22 years of looking, the 47-year-old finally found

    love with Poonam Devi, 33.

At three feet and four inches tall herself, the newly weds -

who were hitched in a traditional Indian ceremony in Uttar

Pradesh last week - are one of the world's smallest couples.

At a collective 71.4 inches tall, they are only point four

inches taller than the current world record holders, Douglas

Maistre Breger da Silva and his wife Claudia Pereira Rocha,

who measure 71 inches tall together.

But Kumar isn't fussed about narrowly missing out on the

record, which would have seen them become minor

celebrities in their home country, known for its obsession

    with record breaking.

Kumar said: 'A local villager helped us meet because he

knew that both of us were single.

'It was love at first sight for me. We fell in love right after

our first meeting. Things between us moved forward quickly

and we got married within a few days.

'I am pleased to have met my life's love and wouldn't

    change anything.'

The two lovebirds got married in an elaborate wedding

ceremony in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, with

much local fanfare celebrating their joyful couples

    matrimony.

'We got married in an big wedding ceremony which was the

happiest day of my life. We love each other so much,' said a

    jubilant Kumar.

Devi said: 'I was very lonely in life before meeting Pramod.

He is an incredible man. I can only thank my stars for this

gift that I have got in my husband.'

However, Kumar and Poonam feel that local villagers will try

to bully them because of their heights.

'Yes, people say things all the time. Many say that we can't

fit into the society. But, we don't care about what people

    say.

'They are just envious that we are a happy couple. The

unhappiness in their lives makes them say such things,'

    said Poonam.

The couple are looking forward to having proper jobs so that

they can build a home and family.

Kumar said: 'I was turning old and this worried me a lot as I

had not been with anyone ever.

'I thought I would die single but then I met Poonam and she

is the best thing ever happened to me. Now I want to work

    and make our lives better.'

'Jobs are our only concern now. We both haven't had proper

jobs in our lives so far. But now we will move forward in

that direction and never look back again.'

Mummified body of a German adventurer missing is found inside drifting...

The mystery of the mummified body of a German
adventurer who was found dead on his yacht off the coast
of the Philippines has taken a new twist after a haunting
    note and photos were uncovered.
Manfred Fritz Bajorat, 59, whose body was discovered by
two fishermen, wrote a thirty two word memorium his
beloved wife Claudia, who died from cancer aged 53 on 2
    May 2010.
'Thirty years we're been together on the same path. Then
the power of the demons was stronger than the will to live.
You're gone. May your soul find its peace. Your Manfred,' it
    read.

These tragic final words were discovered on a forum for
sailors on the Internet called kaktusguenther.de.
Mr Bajorat's body was found sitting near to the radio
telephone as if he was trying one last desperate Mayday call
to save himself when he died.
Christopher Rivas, 23, a resident of P-4 Poblacion, in
Barobo, was fishing together with a friend nearly 40 miles
from the coast when he spotted the yacht, painted white and
whose sail was broken from afar.

The 40-foot long yacht, named SAYO, had been cruising
around the world for the past 20 years.
Inside the cabin, much of which was underwater, were found
photo albums apparently showing his wife, family and
friends, and clothes and tins of food were strewn all around.
It is unclear how long Manfred, who has been identified
thanks to paperwork on board, has been dead or what killed
him - although authorities believe there was no foul play
    involved.

A friend told BILD that he last heard of him one year ago on
    Facebook for his birthday.
Dry ocean winds, hot temperatures and the salty air helped
    preserve his body.
Police are trying to retrace his last voyages and find the last
    people to speak with him.
He broke up with his wife in 2008, who had been on his
travels with him, and she died two years later of cancer.
Photos from an album in the cabin have been uncovered,
showing a family in happier times which testify to the life on
land that Manfred sailed away from.
One image shows a wife, his daughter Nina, a friend and his
partner, enjoying a picnic on a wooden table beneath sun
    dappled trees.
Another badly battered picture shows Manfred and a baby,
presumably his daughter, with the words: 'Our first time with
our little Button on the sea.'
Other fragments are snapshopts of Notre Dame in Paris and
Claudia and Manfred enjoying a drink at a Parisian sidewalk
cafe with the wording above; 'Drink Coca Cola.'
Yet another shows more familiar landmarks of the French
capital including the grave of the Unknown Warrior and the
    Arc de Triomphe.
Other pictures from inside the yacht show the state of chaos
in which it was found - clothing, footwear, books, paper -
among the detritus. And a touch of humour too in the sign
screwed into a bulkhead: 'This is a swell ship for the
skipper....but a hell ship for the crew.'

The schoolboy, 16, who will LIVE with a Russian porn star in
a hotel after winning a  online
    competition
A schoolboy in Russia has won a month living with a porn
star as a prize in an online competition.
Ruslan Schedrin, 16, was told he qualifies to spend a month
in a Moscow hotel with the voluptuous Ekaterina Makarova.
He appears delighted about the prize, saying the X-rated
actress has 'good sizes' and he is 'boiling inside' - but his
mother and sister have reacted furiously.
'I didn't believe it at first, I thought it was rubbish,' he said.
'But when it turned out to be true, I thanked the website, I
    was so happy.

'I called my friends and they did not believe it either, they
said: "What are you talking about?"'
Ruslan, who has worked as a child actor, added: 'Now they
are happy for me too. Some of them are envious.
'I saw her and I liked everything, she has got good sizes....
and so on. I am looking forward to our meeting so much,
everything is boiling inside me. I am happy so much.
'I have told my mother and she has taken it badly, but I
think we'll sort it out. When I meet the girl, I'll say: "Hi, I am
that very boy, I've won you."'

An Argentinian woman is claiming to be the world's oldest female after celebrating her 119th birthday this month.

Celina Del Carmen Olea, from Buenos Aires, says she was born on February 15, 1897 - the same year Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee.

The 119-year-old says her secret to a long life is making sure she eats properly, and surrounding herself with loved ones.

Ms Del Carmen Olea's birth certificate and hand-written ID appear to show she was indeed born in 1897.

The elderly lady celebrated the incredible milestone surrounded by her proud family earlier this month.

Ms Del Carmen Olea lives in the slums of Buenos Aires with her son Alberto, and receives a pension of just £105.

She grew up on a rural farm and moved to the capital city in the 1960s with her husband, Jose Inocencio Segovia, who died shortly after.

According to Alberto, the senior woman is increasingly blind and deaf but requires no medicine apart from skin cream for cysts.

He claims his amazing mother never smoked, always ate well and puts her astonishing longevity down to long walks and a life filled with love.

Alberto told Argentine newspaper Clarin: 'Her weapons were steady work, going walking everywhere and love, always love.'

He added that sadly all of his 11 brothers and sisters had died, but that his mother spent most of her adult life adopting and fostering children,

One of them, Gladys, 48, was adopted as a baby by Ms Del Carmen Olea when she was 70 years old, and still lives nearby.

A mother in Australia awoke to blood-curdling screams after
her six-year-old son was attacked in his bed by a three-
    metre long python.

The boy, Tyler, was sleeping in the top bunk in his bedroom
at his family home near Macksville, on the New South Wales
Mid North Coast, on Friday night when the carpet python
snake bit him several times on his face and hand.
Tyler's mother, Tamara, told the Guardian News she ran into
the room and ripped the snake off his body.
"It was like a nightmare," Tamara told the newspaper.
"It was a terrifying scream and I didn't know what had
happened - I certainly didn't think it involved a snake.
"I have no idea how it even got into the house."
When Tamara entered the bedroom she said the snake was
    wrapped around her son's belly.

"I tried to pull Tyler from the bed but he didn't come with me
... I had to roll him, then pull," she said.
"I saw his face and the blood and his eyes were still closed
so I don't think he was fully awake.
"I tried to check him over but he wouldn't let me touch him
    anywhere."

Within five minutes Tamara's cousins arrived at the
property and "dealt with the snake" while Tamara drove her
    son to Macksville District Hospital.
"Tyler doesn't remember anything - which is the best part,"
    Tamara said.
"He was only complaining about his finger hurting. He
tapped his head on the way to hospital and he asked me
    why he was bleeding.
"He wouldn't know that a snake had bitten him if we hadn't
told him or if people hadn't been talking about it."
A family friend, posted an image of her cousin Brady,
    holding up the snake.
Brady is seen holding the snake above his head - but it is so
long it drapes on the ground at his feet and is curled around
    his hand.
