Texas woman rescued after surviving 5 days near Grand Canyon

A Texas student has told how she survived in the Grand Canyon for five days after her car ran out of gas and was rescued after spelling out 'help' with a collection of stones on the ground.

Amber VanHecke, 24, set off in her Ford Edge on March 10 near the Canyon's South Rim in Arizona. After following her GPS down a road which didn't exist, she ran out of gas and became stranded on March 12.

She spent five days surviving on emergency food and water while waiting for someone to rescue her.

Eventually on March 17, she abandoned the vehicle and walked 11 miles to find a phone signal to call local authorities for help.

VanHecke was eventually rescued by an air ambulance pilot as she walked back to her car where she had left notes for anyone that might come across it.

UK Parliament terror attack: Two people killed, cop stabbed -- more than a dozen injured

A knifeman was shot by armed police in the grounds of Parliament today after pedestrians were mowed down in a terror attack on Westminster Bridge.

More than 12 people are said to have been hit by a car on the central London bridge after a vehicle described as a '4x4' drove into pedestrians and cyclists.

An intruder, described by a witness as 'middle-aged and Asian', then managed to break into the grounds of the Houses of Parliament and stabbed a police officer before he was shot.

Prime Minister Theresa May is said to have been bundled into a car by a plain-clothes police officer and driven quickly from the scene.

Scotland Yard said the attack, which comes a year to the day after the terrorist atrocities in Brussels, is being treated 'as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise'.

Villagers cut open crocodile & Find remains of 8-year-old boy in Zimbabwe

This is the horrific moment villagers cut open a crocodile and found the remains of an eight-year-old boy inside the beast.
The shocking scene was captured by an eyewitness with a smartphone in the village of Mushumbi Pools in northern Zimbabwe's Mashonaland Central Province.
Villagers suspected the crocodile had killed and eaten the young boy, and shot the animal dead.

When they cut open the huge beast's stomach, their worst fears were confirmed.
The remains of the boy, whose name has not been revealed, were removed from the crocodile and buried two days later in a village funeral.

Villagers and a local policeman can be seen in the background of the film, silently watching the grim operation unfold.
Local reporter Simbarashe Sithole said: 'The crocodile was shot and was then cut open. The boy's remains were found in the beast's stomach.'
Zimbabwe has recently been hit by heavy rain, raising river and dam levels, which can bring crocodiles to areas where they are not normally seen.

A Christian pastor working in a Sierra Leone mine has found a 706-carat diamond, which could be the tenth largest ever found.
The precious stone was found by Emmanuel Momoh, who was working in the Kono region, in the east of the country.
It will be sold in Sierra Leone in a 'transparent' bidding process to benefit the country, according to a government statement.

It read: 'A 706-carat diamond was presented to President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma yesterday evening.
'Receiving the diamond President Koroma thanked the chief and his people for not smuggling the diamond out of the country.'
Diamond expert Paul Zimnisky said it could be 'between the 10th and 15th largest gem-diamonds ever recovered' and such a find is very rare in a small mine.
